Painting From The Heart
Born in Pacific Beach California, Dodie grew up playing on the beach. The ocean has always been close to her heart and one of her favorite subjects to paint. Dodie moved to Colorado in 1993 to raise her children in the country. She embraced Colorado in all its splendor and beauty. Surrounded by tall pines and glorious views of the majestic Rocky Mountains - she found another favorite subject to paint. Dodie Davis is a self taught artist. She looks at life through an artist's eye. She fully appreciates all that God gives us through the wonders of nature and she frequently paints "en plein air". She finds her passion in the luminosity of watercolor. Dodie relates to the medium; maybe it is the spontaneity, perhaps going with the flow, or loving the surprises that happen with watercolor. She believes that almost everything is a painting waiting to happen and she paints it all - people, places, and "things".
In 2006, following the passing of her son, Dodie's work took on a new meaning - "PAINTING FROM THE HEART". Each of her paintings is an expression of love. Hidden within each painting are her son's initials. Painting is her way of going to a place of spirituality and beauty, and she wants to share that place with others through her art. Dodie's work is held in private and corporate collections nationally.
